..... and the adventure begins .....

On October 21st, I will be taking my first seminary class.  I'm kind of scared ... and kind of excited at the same time.  I got my confirmation and faxed in my letter of intent last week, so that was basically the final step in getting into seminary.  Going back to school will be quite the challenge.  I have been out of school for a little while ... so i need to make sure I am ready for this.  I also haven't been doing "schoolwork" in a real long time .... so .. I'll have to get use to that too.  But ... I will be taking 1 class every 6 weeks .. with some breaks in there.  But .. it'll be 3 years and almost $10,000 until I get my masters.  WOW ..... I didn't realize that till about now.  That's a lot of money!!  But it's ok ..... cause that's not my worry ... mine is just making sure I get the work done .... make sure i am on the ball with everything.

I have been coaching the girls volleyball team for about a month now.  It's been pretty fun ..... and I was using it as an attempt at working on my coaching style.  I'm a very very very intense coach and I like to yell.  Not mean things (all the time) ... but I'm constantly .... yelling ... whether it's instructions or encouragements ... or other things.  With volleyball ..... I am trying to be more "patient" and understanding.  With the guys .... it's usually me yelling at them ... but with the girls I don't like to yell too much.  But then ... they wanted me to yell more .... and now I feel like the "beast" is loose ... so I need to make sure I'm applying the things I learned in the coaching class ... so ... that'll be fun!  But I will say that I am having a lot of fun coaching the girls.  Sometimes .... after coaching the guys ... a lot of the emotions of the game is still there .... especially if we lose.  BUT with the girls ... one thing I appreciate is how they like to have fun.  Don't get me wrong .... the guys are fun too!!!

I have begun to play hockey again.  MAN I STINK!!  I really need to work on my game.  I think I am dragging the team down.  But .... rest asure .... I will work my butt off!!  But i'm pretty sore after every game .... ai ya!!!

YESTERDAY ....

So ... yesterday was 9/11/08.  It is hard to believe that it has been 7 years since the US was attacked by terrorists!!  I didn't realize that 9/11 was coming up.  One night I was watching tv, and one of the cable channels was showing the movie United 93.  Now, I had always wanted to watch that movie but never got around to it.  Well, I found it while it was in the middle of the movie, so I watched part of it ... but then decided to stop and wait for the rearing right after this showing so I can watch the whole thing, one of the great things about cable.  Anyway, so I got to watch the movie .... but I couldn't finish it.  I don't know why .... I already know what's going to happen and basically the outcome.  BUT .... BUT .... I just couldn't sit there and watch how the US was being attacked.  I mean ... I have known what happened for the last 7 years, but seeing it again just made me sick.  It conjured up emotions that had been stored away for a very long time.  Anger, hate, and disgust are just some of them .... and it is not pointed at any one people group, but at the sheer act of terrorism that occurred.  Then, it got me thinking about the war.  One of the things that gets me the most are those people who demonstrate against the war.  They keep a count of lives lost to throw in the face of the US government just to make a stink about something.  I'm thinking .. DUDE ....people hijacked our airplanes and flew them into buildings killing innocent people ... but for some reason those demonstrators seem to care more about what's happening overseas than what happened back at home.  It makes me sick to think about people like that ..... HELLO??!??!?!?  Honestly, I just want to take them and "shake" some sense into them!!  Anyway ... i digress ..... anyway ... watching the movie made me sad too.  They actually had clips of the planes crashing into the WTC towers ..... and I just couldn't take it anymore.  9/11/01 was a very dark day for the US, but it also created a sense that we also need to be on guard.  It's amost like our Christian lives .... sometimes it takes something really crazy to happen to us before we become on guard about our spiritual lives.  I wanted to type this last night, but I was busy playing PSP all night.  I know I know .... what a waste of time!!  BUT .... yeah .... it was a waste of time!  Might as well enjoy my time while I still have some free time!!

WOW ......

So .... I have told you that with new my job, I get some mondays off, mostly every monday, but sometimes I might have to go in.  But ... for the last 2 mondays, I have taken them off and had a chance to play golf.  Well last week, I played fairly well, especially ending the last 9 holes playing extremely well.  TODAY, was fun!  Last week, I played with some guy that they paired up with me when I got there.  Today, I played Carlton and Erick.  It's a lot more fun playing with people you know, because then you can joke around and know what to say to them.  Last week, when the other person wasn't playing well, I didn't know what to say to him.  So today was "funner"!!  Last week, I shot a 89 .. usually I shoot in the low to mid 90s.  So, 89 was pretty good .. especially since I shot so poorly in the beginning.  TODAY was different!!  I started well ... and continues to play well!!  I shot an 82!!!  It's a personal record.  I know we didn't play a tough course, but when you are a HACK ... it's always challenging!!  But 82 ... wow .... I was stoked!!  STILL AM!! 

Anyway, other wows .... this sunday I will be sharing with the church about my mission trip to Hong Kong.  Last weekend (not yesterday) our team had a chance to get back together and eat and fellowship.  That was fun!!!  So .... we talked about Hong Kong ... and man .. it made me miss everything and everyone in Hong Kong!!  In fact, just the other day ... I was talking to a friend that I have not talked to in over a year!!  I got to share with her my experiences in Hong Kong ... and .... it was really neat to talk to her about it.  In fact .... I don't even remember what I shared ... because .. there were ... are sooo many things that I learned about myself ... about God ... about the people in Hong Kong ... and .... especially my desire to go back to Hong Kong.  In fact, it's soo weird .. because ever since I came back from Hong Kong ... I have been thinking about everything back there EVERYDAY!!!  I MEAN ... LITERALLY ....... EVERY DAY!!  EVERY DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I miss it sooo much!  SO, getting to share this sunday will be fun .... and I have to prepare otherwise .. I will go over my alotted 10 minutes!  So .. this week .... I will need to work on that!

Let's see ... my girls won our first volleyball match!!  I really hope that it will spark a fire under them to start working hard in practice!  But I dont really blame them sometimes!!  The last 2 weeks have been really hot out there at practice.  SOmetimes over 90 degrees!!  But ... it's really amazing how playing in a gym is so different than our outdoor gym!  So we do not have a match until the 17th, so we will be working hard to get ready for that.  I get some girls back and it'll be nice to practice with a full squad!  JV .... they are progressing.  I really hope having them come watch the varsity games will pay off!  It's still stressful .... but it's also fun!

OK ... that's all ... speaking of volleyball ... I must go lead the practice now ... so ... I did a lot of talking ... .typing ... HOW ARE YOU???
